For those of you who are new to drag racing, we have some helpful hints for you to follow.
Rules
5 mph anywhere in the facility except down the track
Left lane has right of way for turn off at end of track
Windows up
Tail lights on
Always wear seat belts
All passengers must sign tech card at tech inspection
Tech Inspection
First step is always to go to tech inspection. There your car will be inspected for safety measures. The faster your car runs, the more safety equipment you are required to have. After your car has passed tech inspection, you are ready to proceed to the staging lines.
Staging Lanes
There are several staging lanes available. Use all of them. If you want to race a buddy, have them pull up in the lane behind you and let the stager know. He will do what he can to accommodate you.
Burn Out
When the stager directs you, pull up to the water box. There will be a guide to tell you when you’re in the right place. If you have street tires and you are not doing a burn out, it is a good idea to go around the water box. If you go through it and do not do a burn out, you track water on to the track.
When doing your burn out, make sure your car is pointed forward, not at the starter. That little red guardrail doesn’t offer him much protection.
After you burn out, when directed, proceed to the starting line.
Staging to race
Once both cars have completed the burnouts, the starter will instruct you to move up to the starting line. Do not pull all the way up until the starter tells you to.
Wait for your opponent, so you stage at the same time. On the sides of the track, there are pole markers to show you how far to pull up. Staging is a two light process: pre stage and stage. The two yellow lights on the top of the tree will let you know when you are staged. Do this slowly.
Pull forward until the top light is lit.
Then pull forward a little more, until the top light is lit.
Then pull forward a little more, until the second light is lit. Do not come up on the rpms until the previous cars are off the track.
The starter will not start the race until those cars are gone. Once the cars are clear, then come up on your rpms.
Watch the Tree, not the starter.
Once the starter flips the switch, three yellow lights will come on and then the green light will come. Try to leave the line as the green light comes on.
If you follow these simple steps, everyone will have a safe and happy racing experience. Remember that all track employees are taking time out of their day to come out so you can all have fun. We enjoy racing as much as you do. We just want you to be safe while doing it. We would much rather see you at the track than on the streets. So let’s all go to the track and have some fun.
